What is sand volleyball?

Beach or "sand" volleyball is a life-time sport that can be enjoyed by youth and adults of all ages and can be played in various formats, including 2s/'doubles', 3s/'triples', and 4s/'fours'.  Played for years by many adults, the 2s/'doubles' version became an Olympic sport in 1996.  The sport received a great deal of attention during the 2008 Summer Olympics when the United States won gold medals in both the men's and the women's competition.  Besides the Olympics, there are also opportunities to play professionally for both men and women.  An evolving sport for youth, the current push is to establish varsity programs at the collegiate level beginning with women, where the NCAA has added Sand Volleyball as an emerging sport for 2010 in both Division I and Division II, and eventually adding men's programs.

About us

Sand Crabs Volleyball was founded to provide opportunities for organized training and competition for boys and girls in an effort to grow the sport specifically in the Brevard County area of Florida.  The emphasis is on quality instruction and training that includes match experience through league and tournament play.  Children are taught the fundamental skills first to provide the foundation for their progression into intermediate and advanced skills and match strategy.  Focus is on developing players who understand and can apply the principles of teamwork, discipline, dedication, and sportsmanship.  Character development is fostered in all who participate.
 
Additional training programs, leagues and tournaments are offered for adults interested in furthering their skills or knowledge of the game.
